What is it?

This is the hydrogen bus which drives through parts of Amsterdam since December last year,
also along the well-known Central Station in the heart of the city.
For the coming two years the bus will drive regular services.

Wat is dit?

Dit is de waterstofbus die sinds December 2003 door Amsterdam rijdt, ook langs het Centraal Station in het hart van de hoofdstad. De bus rijdt twee jaar lang reguliere diensten.

Who owns it?

The hydrogen bus is the property of the municipal transport company Amsterdam (GVB) and
costs 1.25 million euro. Daimler Benz developed this prototype and invested already 2 billion euro in fuel cell-research.

Van wie is die bus?

De waterstofbus is het eigendom van het gemeentelijk vervoerbedrijf (GVB) en kostte 1,25 miljoen euro. Daimler Benz ontwikkelde het prototype en investerde al twee miljard euro in het onderzoek naar waterstof en vervoer.

Bus lines 35 (Molenwijk-Centraal station) and 38 (Molenwijk Nieuwendam-Noord).

Where is the fuel station?

In the station of the GVB in Amsterdam-Noord an adapted hydrogen
installation has been built. With green energy here by means of
electrolysis hydrogen is made, by HoekLoos.

Waar tankt de bus?

In de remise van het GVB in Amsterdam-Noord is een waterstofinstallatie gebouwd. Met groene stroom wordt hier door middel van elektrolyse waterstof gemaakt, door Hoek Loos.

What is so special about this bus?

This is the first public hydrogen test and demonstration project in the Netherlands. The responses of Amsterdammers: they rather choose the hydrogen bus, when they have a choice. The bus makes no noise at all and gives a touch of science fiction.

Wat is er zo bijzonder aan deze bus?

Dit is de eerste publieke test met waterstof in Nederland. De eerste reacties van Amsterdammer: als ze de waterstofbus zien aankomen, laten ze andere bussen schieten. De waterstofbus rijdt volkomen stil en geeft een gevoel van science fiction.
